The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has confirmed that the Super Eagles will face Russia in an international friendly at the Nizhny Novgorod Stadium on October 6, 2026.
The NFF announced the fixture on its official X account on Tuesday, confirming a rematch of the two countries’ previous friendly in Moscow in June 2025, which ended in a 1-1 draw.
Russia took the lead in the 27th minute after Nigeria defender Semi Ajayi scored an own goal, before Tolu Arokodare equalised for the Super Eagles in the 71st minute.
Russia has been suspended from FIFA and UEFA competitions since 2022 following the invasion of Ukraine. The Russian national team has consequently continued to arrange international friendlies outside official FIFA and UEFA competitions.
The October meeting will give both teams an opportunity to assess their squads and preparations ahead of their respective future international engagements.
