Nollywood actress Kemi Afolabi has criticised people who take pleasure in others’ suffering, calling the behaviour “diabolical” in an Instagram post that reminded her followers that death comes to everyone.
“We all are gonna bite the dust. Your jubilation over another’s afflictions or death is diabolical,” she wrote.
She did not name anyone or point to a specific incident that prompted the post.
Her health journey
The message comes as Afolabi continues to live with lupus, an incurable autoimmune disease in which the immune system wrongly attacks the body’s own tissues and organs. In August 2026, the mother of one said she had undergone multiple surgeries after a severe lupus flare. She shared a hospital video at the time while marking her daughter’s 16th birthday.
She first spoke publicly about her condition in 2022, in an emotional interview with Chude Jideonwo, in which she said doctors had given her five more years to live. In recent months, she has spoken about resilience, gratitude and the courage it takes to keep fighting despite her health challenges.
