The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has published the Preliminary Register of Voters for the 2027 general election online, after Nigerians and other stakeholders raised concerns about access to the document.
The commission announced the move in a statement issued on Monday by Mohammed Kudu Haruna, Chairman of its Information and Voter Education Committee.
INEC said the online publication supplements the physical display of the register held nationwide from October 9 to 15, 2026, under Section 19 of the Electoral Act, 2026. That exercise let registered voters inspect their details and file claims and objections as the law provides.

The commission said it had noted the calls to make the register available on its online platform as well, and that the register can now be viewed on a dedicated portal, display.inecnigeria.org. [Verify the address on INEC’s official website before publishing.] It said the extra step was meant to widen public access and strengthen transparency and confidence in the electoral process.
INEC added that it is still processing claims and objections from the display, ahead of the certification and publication of the Final Register of Voters on December 15, 2026.
The commission thanked Nigerians and other stakeholders for their continued interest and reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, accountability and implementing the Electoral Act, 2026, in delivering credible elections.
