Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Disu has toured 23 police barracks across the country to assess the living conditions of officers and their families.
The inspection focused on residential quarters and other welfare facilities. During the visits, the IGP engaged with personnel and residents to pinpoint infrastructure gaps and identify areas in need of urgent repair, rehabilitation and long-term investment.
In a statement issued on Sunday, Force Public Relations Officer CSP Ani Iniedu said the exercise was aimed at thoroughly evaluating the welfare challenges confronting police personnel and strengthening the Force’s response to those needs.
Disu stressed that decent housing and functional welfare infrastructure are essential to boosting officers’ morale and operational effectiveness. He assured personnel that the deficiencies identified would be addressed, noting that those who put their lives on the line to protect the public deserve suitable living conditions.
