Court Strikes Out Charge Against Alleged Fake DG of Presidential Council, Transfers Case to FCT High Court

The Federal High Court in Abuja on Monday struck out an eight-count criminal charge brought by the Federal Government against Adeniyi Adeyemi, the alleged fake Director-General of the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council.

Justice Mohammed Garba Umar struck out the charge after the Federal Government applied for the case to be terminated, saying Adeyemi would be arraigned afresh before the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The application was moved by the Director of Public Prosecutions of the Federation, Rotimi Oyedepo, SAN. He told the court that the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice had reviewed the case file and the charge originally filed by the Inspector-General of Police, and had identified some loopholes.

Oyedepo said the documents Adeyemi allegedly forged while operating the purported agency amounted to offences that could be prosecuted by the FCT High Court rather than the Federal High Court.

He added that a fresh charge had already been filed before the FCT High Court and that Adeyemi would be arraigned “without delay.” He urged the judge to strike out the existing charge in accordance with the law.

Adeyemi’s counsel, Ibrahim Angulu, SAN, did not oppose the application, and Justice Umar subsequently struck out the charge.

Adeyemi, 38, was being tried in case number FHC/ABJ/CR/25/2025 alongside two other defendants, whose whereabouts are unknown, on charges of conspiracy and forgery. The two defendants said to be at large were identified only as Femi and Anu; their surnames were not known.
