The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Kwara State Governorship Primary Election Committee, Musiliu Obanikoro, has assured party members and stakeholders that today’s primary will be conducted freely, fairly, and transparently.
In a statement issued Friday morning, Obanikoro said election materials would be distributed ahead of Juma’at prayers, with voting commencing simultaneously across all 16 local government areas of the state immediately after.
The committee, he said, is fully prepared to conduct the exercise in strict compliance with directives from the APC National Headquarters and in line with established party guidelines.
Obanikoro disclosed that the committee had held a strategic meeting with all governorship aspirants at the APC State Secretariat in Ilorin, where they were briefed on the electoral process and given the opportunity to raise and resolve concerns. He described the engagement as part of efforts to ensure an inclusive and transparent exercise.
While the committee sought to encourage consensus among the aspirants, Obanikoro made clear it remained fully prepared to proceed with a contested election should no agreement be reached.
He emphasised that the committee is the sole body authorised by the party and applicable laws to conduct, conclude, and report on the primary. Designated Local Government Election Officers across the state’s 16 LGAs, he added, would converge to collect materials and oversee the voting process.
Obanikoro called on all stakeholders to maintain peace and conduct themselves in the spirit of party unity, reaffirming the committee’s commitment to delivering a credible and successful primary.
