Abuja-based content creator and entrepreneur Fauzia Muhammad, known online as Fauzahxo, has revealed that her marriage to Danilo Popovski has ended, alleging she experienced physical abuse, substance-related issues, betrayal and threats over the course of the relationship.
In a lengthy statement posted to social media on Friday, Fauzah said that while she had long presented an image of domestic happiness online, she felt it was time to speak candidly about difficulties she says she faced behind the scenes. She described the decision to end the marriage as the outcome of a prolonged and difficult period, following repeated attempts on her part to hold the relationship together.
“My husband and I are no longer together, and I feel like it’s finally time to be honest about what I’ve been going through,” she wrote, citing drug use, violence, betrayal, threats and fear among the issues she says she endured, alongside numerous efforts to keep the family intact.
Fauzah said the strain in the marriage grew more pronounced after the couple’s daughter was born, alleging that Popovski grew emotionally withdrawn, that intimacy in the relationship declined, and that he developed a substance abuse problem. She also alleged that he began an affair with a woman she says she had personally introduced into her home and circle of friends.
She claimed that confronting him about the situation led to violence, describing one specific episode in which she says he came home under the influence of drugs, handled their newborn roughly while trying to wake the child, and turned aggressive when she stepped in. She said this incident led her to leave the home with her daughter out of concern for their safety.
Fauzah also posted footage she said showed Popovski verbally abusing her, in which he can reportedly be heard referring to himself as her “king” and asserting control over her, particularly during their time in Nigeria. The clip has since spread widely online.
In follow-up posts, Fauzah named the woman she accused of having an affair with her husband as Sara Audu, alleging that Audu had first approached her as a fan before working her way into her social circle and eventually becoming close with both her and her sister. Fauzah said she had welcomed Audu into her home and personal events before allegedly learning of her involvement with Popovski. She also shared what she described as a recorded conversation in which Audu purportedly admitted to a sexual relationship with Popovski.
Separately, older content from Fauzah has resurfaced online, including videos in which she discussed her experiences in an interracial marriage and offered commentary on relationships between Black women and white men, drawing on her own relationship with Popovski. She had previously said the couple met on the dating app Tinder and had also mentioned that her sister is in a relationship with a man from the Balkans. Since her recent allegations became public, this older material has been widely recirculated and discussed on social media.
