Justice Peter Lifu of the Federal High Court in Abuja on Monday ordered the deregistration of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and four other political parties over their alleged failure to meet constitutional requirements for continued registration.
The order followed a suit filed by the National Forum of Former Legislators, which asked the court to compel the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to remove the ADC, Action Alliance (AA), Action Peoples Party (APP), Accord Party, and Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) from the register of political parties.
The court directed INEC to deregister the parties for breach of Section 225 of the Constitution.
