Arsenal secured a 2-2 draw against Bayern Munich on Wednesday, but concerns over Bukayo Saka’s injury overshadowed the result.

Saka was forced off early after going down clutching his thigh. Eberechi Eze replaced the England international, who is Arsenal’s joint-top scorer this season alongside Viktor Gyökeres.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta admitted he was concerned about the winger’s condition, although the extent of the injury remains unclear.

“They are a bit concerned about Saka. When a player has to come off with sharp pain, it is never good news. We have to wait and see,” Arteta said.

He added that Saka “doesn’t look good at all”, while acknowledging the physical demands of elite-level football.

Eze made an immediate impact by scoring Arsenal’s opener. Bayern responded through Alphonso Davies and a Harry Kane penalty before Declan Rice struck late to secure a point for Arsenal.

Arteta praised his players for their performance against a Bayern side he described as capable of overpowering any opponent.

“I really value what the boys did tonight,” he said, describing the encounter as one of the highest levels Arsenal had played at.

Rice also praised the intensity of the contest, explaining that Bayern’s man-to-man approach required Arsenal to follow specific tactical principles.

Reflecting on his late equaliser, Rice told TNT: “I just kept running, lost my marker and I was in on goal to score.”

While Arsenal will take encouragement from their comeback, Saka’s condition remains a major concern as the club awaits further clarity on his injury.
