Arsenal striker Viktor Gyokeres could leave the club as early as the January transfer window, with his limited playing time and goal drought this season fuelling doubts about his future in north London.

The Sweden international is yet to score this campaign, going nine attempts without a goal. At 28, he has played only 345 minutes in all competitions, 80 of them in the Premier League. He was also an unused substitute in three of Arsenal’s first four top-flight matches, which has restricted his chances to settle into the side.

It is a sharp contrast to his first season at the club. Gyokeres scored 21 goals in all competitions in 2025/26 and contributed to Arsenal’s Premier League title triumph. Even so, some critics questioned his output against stronger opposition, arguing that most of his goals came against weaker teams.

His reported frustration at the situation has intensified speculation that he could seek a move in January.

Arsenal are said to be making serious efforts to find a replacement, and the club is reportedly assessing its options in attack. However, they are understood to be unwilling to let him go unless a suitable successor is secured first.
