The Ekiti State Police Command has rescued victims abducted during an attack on the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), Eda-Oniyo, on April 28.
Command spokesperson SP Sunday Abutu confirmed the development in a statement issued in Ado-Ekiti on Saturday, attributing the breakthrough to sustained intelligence-led operations involving the Nigeria Police Force, the military, other security agencies, the Amotekun Corps, local hunters and the Ekiti State Government.
The rescued victims have since been taken to a medical facility, where they are undergoing examination and treatment to assess their condition and ensure proper care.
Commissioner of Police Falade Adegoroye commended the professionalism and collaboration of all agencies and stakeholders involved, describing their joint efforts as central to the operation’s success.
He also praised the Ekiti State Government, led by Governor Biodun Oyebanji, for its sustained support to security agencies. He said the support proved pivotal to the outcome and thanked residents for their vigilance and prompt sharing of information with security operatives.
Adegoroye said investigations were ongoing to identify and apprehend those responsible for the abduction, and reaffirmed the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property across the state.
