The Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) plans to open three more stations on the Blue Line rail corridor by the end of February 2027, raising the line’s operational stations from five to eight.
The new stations will be at FESTAC, Alakija and Trade Fair, according to a statement LAMATA issued on Thursday. Managing Director Abimbola Akinajo announced the plan at the 2026 media parley organised by the Lagos State Ministry of Transportation.
The Blue Line currently serves five stations: Marina, National Theatre, Iganmu, Alaba and Mile 2. LAMATA said the expansion would widen access to mass transit, improve connectivity and give more residents an alternative to road travel.

Akinajo also said four Quality Bus Corridors (QBCs) are close to completion, and that construction of the Marina and Mile 2 interchange hubs has made considerable progress.
The Blue Line was inaugurated in September 2023. Commercial operations began that month on the first phase, which links Marina and Mile 2.
