The Lagos State Government has named six new permanent secretaries, raising the total appointed by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu since he took office to 135, according to the state Head of Service, Bode Agoro.

Agoro announced this on Monday at Lagos House, Alausa, Ikeja, during the swearing-in of the six officials, along with members of the Local Government Service Commission and the Audit Service Commission.
He said the appointees were chosen through a rigorous and transparent process from a list of successful candidates. Referring to the group as “G6,” he said they were expected to strengthen the state’s public service and help deliver government policies. He added that the appointments reflect the administration’s commitment to merit, professionalism, accountability and transparency. However, he did not say how many candidates competed or what criteria were used to pick the six.
Agoro told the new officials that their elevation carries greater responsibility and urged them to make a positive impact wherever they are posted. Their ministry assignments, he said, would be announced during the governor’s speech.
He also reminded them that seniority applies within the body of permanent secretaries in Lagos State. As the newest entrants, they are the most junior and will be known as “Jambites.”
Permanent secretaries hold senior administrative roles in the state civil service, coordinating ministry operations, implementing policy and ensuring continuity in public administration.
Agoro said he had met the appointees on several occasions and found them keen to contribute to the development of the service and the state. He also appealed to their families to support them, noting that the new roles will demand understanding and encouragement at home.
