The General Manager of Fresh FM Lagos, Taiwo Akinsola, widely known as Omobabaolowo Woli ni Ilasamaja, has praised the Ogun State Police Command for rescuing 18 National Youth Service Corps members whose vehicle broke down at night in a part of the state notorious for kidnapping.
Akinsola’s commendation came in a letter to the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, which the command’s spokesperson, CSP Omolola Odutola, shared with journalists on Monday. He said the corps members ran into trouble on June 30 when their vehicle developed a fault in an area long flagged as a hotspot for criminal activity, leaving them stranded and afraid until they reached out to the police for help.
He commended the command for acting quickly once the distress call came in, noting that officers reached the scene without delay, secured the area, and safely evacuated all 18 corps members to Ijebu Ode, where they were lodged in a hotel overnight. In his words, the response that night “saved lives and prevented what could have been a tragic incident nationally.”
Akinsola framed the rescue as an example of policing that went beyond the routine, crediting the leadership of CP Ojajuni for fostering a force willing to protect lives even in the most dangerous hours, and said the corps members and their families remained deeply grateful. He also singled out the Divisional Police Officer and the patrol team for their decisive action, saying their intervention had helped restore public confidence in the police. He closed the letter with a prayer for the continued safety and strength of police personnel across Ogun State.
