Businesswoman Folorunso Alakija has publicly rejected a published report that claimed she is under investigation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), describing the story as false and defamatory.
Alakija shared the disclaimer on her official X account, @alakijaofficial. It was stamped across a graphic carrying the headline of the original report, which alleged she was being probed over a $1.27 million fraud, undeclared foreign transfers, altered documents and money laundering.
In the accompanying notice, she demanded that “all false and defamatory publications concerning this news” be “immediately removed, deleted, and depublicised from all platforms.”
The notice warned that failure to comply would leave her legal team “with no alternative but to pursue appropriate legal actions.”
The notice does not name the outlets that published the original claim. The EFCC has not been quoted on the matter in the material provided.
