The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested a driver in Abuja over alleged forgery and impersonation after intercepting a Lexus LX570 SUV bearing a concealed number plate marked “PRESIDENCY”.

The vehicle was intercepted by police operatives in Maitama District at about 8 p.m. on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, according to a statement by the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh.

Adeh said the number plate bore the inscription “PRESIDENCY” alongside registration number 10B218 FG.

She said the occupant claimed to be the legitimate holder of the number plate, prompting investigations into the authenticity of the supporting documents.

According to the police, preliminary findings indicated that the registration documents were forged and that the suspect was allegedly impersonating a Permanent Secretary attached to the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF).

The command said investigations were ongoing and that the suspect would be charged in court upon their conclusion.

The police urged residents to remain law-abiding and report suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
