Brighton & Hove Albion have secured the signing of Nigerian winger Zadok Yohanna from Swedish club AIK Stockholm, with the 18-year-old putting pen to paper on a five-year contract running until June 2031.

The Premier League club confirmed the deal on Saturday across their official website and social media channels, though financial terms were not disclosed. The transfer will be formally completed when the window reopens, pending standard regulatory approvals.

Yohanna, who turns 19 later this month, arrives having caught the eye of clubs across Europe following an impressive campaign in Sweden’s top flight. The teenager started his footballing journey at the Ikon Allah Football Academy in Nigeria before relocating to Sweden in 2025, where he wasted little time making his mark at AIK. He has featured 18 times across all competitions this season, contributing five goals and four assists.

Head coach Fabian Hurzeler is clearly enthused by the addition. “I’m looking forward to working with Zadok,” he said. “Having seen his games and his attributes, he is a player that can impact games in the final third. He’s dynamic, has pace and likes to take players on; ability will be a real addition to our attacking options.”

Hurzeler was also keen to temper expectations, acknowledging that a period of adjustment lies ahead. “He’s still young and will need time to adapt to the club and the Premier League, but he’s an exciting player to watch and he brings the kind of creativity our fans will enjoy.”

Yohanna himself expressed delight at joining the Seagulls, who have built a strong reputation in recent seasons for developing young talent into top-level players.
