The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kwara State Command, has arrested two people over the alleged operation of a private security outfit, Double Razzor, without a licence.
The suspects are Abraham Job and Adebowale Adeniyi. The command said they were arrested after an investigation into the outfit’s licensing status and its authority to provide bouncer and other private security services.
In a statement issued in Ilorin on Monday, the command’s Public Relations Officer, Ayoola Shola, said preliminary findings raised concerns about the outfit’s compliance with the rules governing private guard companies in Nigeria. The alleged offences under investigation are operating a private security outfit without the required licence and providing regulated security services without statutory authorisation.
The command said the NSCDC regulates and licenses private guard companies in the country, and that operators must get the necessary approvals before engaging in regulated security work.
State Commandant Abbas Mohammed reaffirmed the command’s commitment to enforcing compliance and curbing unauthorised private security operations in Kwara. He urged event organisers, corporate organisations and the public to hire only licensed security providers to ensure compliance with the law and promote public safety. The command said it would keep working to clean up the private security sector, protect lives and property, and promote accountability in security operations across the state.
Earlier case
In June, the command arrested a man, Akinola Tosin, for allegedly defrauding a Point-of-Sale (PoS) operator with a fake transfer alert while posing as a member of the Nigerian Army. The command said he allegedly obtained N40,600 from the operator by presenting a fake debit alert as proof of payment.
