The All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council (APC PCC) has accused former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar and the African Democratic Congress (ADC) of plotting to undermine President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 campaign flag-off in Kaduna State with misinformation, deepfake videos and forged documents.
The allegations were made by the council’s spokesperson, Dele Alake, who is also Minister of Solid Minerals Development, in a statement on Saturday, 24 October 2026. He claimed opposition figures had circulated misleading reports and images before the rally to sway public opinion and damage the APC campaign. The allegations have not been independently verified, and neither Atiku nor the ADC had responded in the information available for this report.
The disputed letter
One of the claims centres on a letter purportedly written by Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani to the council’s Director-General, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, saying the state government released ₦2.3 trillion to host the rally. Alake called the letter fake and said the figure does not match Kaduna’s budgetary resources.
He cited the state’s budgets of ₦458.271 billion for 2024, ₦790.439 billion for 2025 and ₦985.9 billion for 2026, saying their combined total is below ₦2.3 trillion.
The billboard photo
The council also alleged that a photograph of a security vehicle on routine patrol near an APC campaign billboard was misrepresented online as evidence that security personnel had been deployed to guard the party’s billboards because of public anger.
Warning of doctored videos
Alake further accused opposition figures of planning to circulate old, doctored and AI-generated videos during the rally to suggest widespread public resentment against the APC. The council urged Nigerians to be wary of unverified reports and online content about the event.
