Suspected gunmen have invaded Ahoro-Esinele community in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, abducting a school principal and an unspecified number of students, according to reports gathered by ClarityNewsNG.

The attack reportedly occurred between 8:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. on Friday at Community High School, Ahoro-Esinele.

Sources within the community disclosed that the attackers kidnapped the school principal, identified as Mrs. Rachael Alamu, alongside several students whose exact number remains unknown. A teacher was also reportedly shot during the incident.

According to the source, the gunmen fled the scene in the principal’s vehicle before escaping into a nearby forest reserve bordering the community.

“An unspecified number of students were abducted. We still do not know the exact number,” the source said.

“The school principal, Mrs. Rachael Alamu, was also kidnapped. They shot a teacher as well, although I cannot confirm the teacher’s gender.”

The source further noted that the nearest police formation to the area is the Ikoyi Division, adding that security presence in the community is limited.

Reacting to the incident, the Public Relations Officer of the Oyo State Police Command, CSP Olayinka Ayanlade, confirmed that an attack occurred in the area.

However, he did not immediately confirm the reported abduction of the principal and students.

“There was an attack in that area. The Commissioner of Police is on his way to the area,” Ayanlade said during a telephone conversation.
